Her 1 is good because of the ability to get away and to get a free block by hitting an enemy. Blocks can block a single basic attack from an enemy god which is good against hunters or basic attacks that have extra effects added to them.

Her taunt is good but it is best used as a combo with her 3. Best way to utilize combo is to use 3 on enemy, taunt them into the circle, and keep them there until the second hit.

The ult is important for rushing to allies who may be in trouble. Usually people back off so they don't take the extra damage since her ult does a lot of damage AND brings another god into the fight who could have full health and mana.

No one wants to be in a situation like that. Athena is really good. You just have to understand how her abilities work and how you want to use here.

Oh and her passive isn't too bad. I actually got a kill with it on an opponent who was outside of melee range and in tower. I am rank 10 Athena by the way.

Worse then Khepri? You need to cast your 3 and then taunt enemies in it. It does so much damage even without any damage item. You might want to get soul reaver and void stone for even more damage.

And her ultimate is useful for getting out and saving some allies, also initiating combat. Also think of Ares' ult. Edit: Don't forget that she's a guardian. You are not carrying the game. You need your allies to confirm kills but certainly she can get squishies pretty easily with her combo.

Your taunt will save a LOT of lives in arena. Enemy chasing your low hp ally? Ult or dash. It seems like you want to get kills without relying to others, so you'd be better off with a hunter, a mage or an assassin.

She has a dash that slows for engagement, an AOE damage ability that hits more than once and of course a teleport built into her kit. She is the quintessential, team oriented Tank and i really enjoy seeing one on my team in any game mode.

Athena fits into the support role, in my opinion, exclusively. This ability will charge up for about a second, then shoot Athena forward.

This ability will also slow any god it hits. It's a very long dash for a guardian and can get her in front of teammates or out of danger quickly. Whenever this ability hits a god she will gain a stack of basic attack immunity, which can be helpful in that previously mentioned scenario but is not always enough to save your life.

There, i said it. For a while, Athena was the only god with a proper taunt. In early smite this ability was a terrifying revelation because often it came with the charge sound of her dash or the sound of an enemy ultimate charging up.

For those who do not know, taunting is a rare ability in Smite that allows a god to pull your attention towards them for a certain amount of time, what most people don't know is it forces you to basic attack and actually slows you, making you a sitting duck.

As Athena you want to use this ability to grab as many gods as possible and put them into a bad position. Weather that is into a Ra or Kukulkan ultimate or simply a pull into your tower for some nice poke damage.

Then after you deal that initial damage, taunt the enemy and pull them back into it for the secondary damage from when the ability vanishes.

It is effective as a distraction tool and deals decent damage to minions but in the end it's nothing to wave a Rod of Tahuti at.

A hefty chunk actually, especially when that damage is attached to a hunter, mage or assassin.

how to play athena smite

I've been playing Athena a few times and I don't really care for her. First her Damage is so weak. It seems way worse than kephri and Geb.

Her ultimate has some damage, but it's so hard for to register it's almost pointless. Out of her skills the only thing I like is her taunt, but it does no dmg. Her skill 1 is okay, but I hate how it has to charge up.

It also does very little dmg, and the slow it puts on seems non exsistent. Her ultimate is so slow, by the time I get to teammates they're doomed.

And in game modes like arena it's completely useless. Her 3rd skill also seems slow and weak. I like her taunt, but that's about it. Kinda silly playing a gaurdian that only has one good skill.

Maybe I'm just building her wrong? For protective guardians, Khepri and Geb Seem way better to me. Showing 1 - 3 of 3 comments.
