On one magical night, with the help of three ghosts, he comes to discover the joy of Christmas. Jacob Marley is Scrooge's covetous old business partner. In the opening scene we see Scrooge as the only mourner to attend his funeral.

Seven years later, Marley's ghost appears to warn Scrooge of the night ahead. Scrooge's overworked and underpaid clerk. His family are suffering because of Scrooge's tight-fisted treatment.
